Prompt Engineering Reflection
As shown, the first resume is my own original. To make my résumé better, I instructed the AI with precise prompts to produce two different versions of my original resume: one for marketing positions and another for management positions. I also directed the AI to generate each variant as a downloadable PDF with appropriate labels. These instructions helped the AI to grasp not only the kinds of jobs I was looking for, but also the tone, the organization, and the layout I required.
In comparison to the original and AI-generated versions, the greatest differences were the rewriting of bullet points, the inclusion of job-related skills, and the adjustment of my background to reflect each career path more accurately. The marketing version focused on branding, customer engagement, and event promotion, whereas the management version featured leadership, workflow optimization, and problem-solving. Though the content was consistent with my actual experience, the emphasis depended on the audience.
I discovered the significance of prompt engineering in the process of tailoring content for different purposes through this method. If one is specific, mentions the audience, and provides clear directions, one gets more polished, professional résumés. It made me realize that just a few words can so greatly change how an employer sees my experience.
